Jeju Island, located in the southernmost part of Korea, is a natural volcanic island with 1,800 species of subtropical, temperate, and cold-growing plants. The volcanic soil created by volcanic activity has a smooth flow of water and air, and contains 10 times higher organic matter than ordinary soil. Porous basalt gravel, which exists only in Jeju, provides a very favorable environment for the growth of tea trees due to its excellent moisture control ability.
